Deaths and Injuries in Attack on Lebanese Bus in Syria

Several people were killed and injured in a rocket attack on a Lebanese bus in a Syrian area overlooking the Lebanese border village of al-Qaa in eastern Lebanon, media reports said Saturday.

Initial reports said one person was killed and three others injured when the rocket hit the bus, which was carrying pilgrims to Iraq, after it crossed the Lebanese border and reached the area of al-Jousiyeh.

According to the National News Agency Mohammed Klib al-Talla died after sustaining severe injuries, while Ahmed Shames was transferred to a hospital in Zahle.

The NNA added that 2 other people, Zainab el-Hilou and Majida Allam, were wounded during the attack and transferred to Hermel Public Hospital.

However, Lebanese security officials told the Associated Press that six people were killed and 21 wounded in the attack.

The officials said five Syrians and a Lebanese were killed in the attack.

It was not immediately clear who launched the assault, or how many of the dead were on the bus or bystanders.
