Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumlat slammed on Wednesday Speaker Nabih Berri’s decision to hold a general discussion parliament to assess the government’s performance.
“It’s an incomplete step,” Jumblat described it.
According to al-Liwaa newspaper, the Druze leader said this step was not essential as it weakens the cabinet instead of fortifying it.
However, the PSP media department denied that Jumblat is at rift with Berri.
“The information isn’t accurate, PSP leader Jumblat is keen to maintain the historic ties with Berri,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, Berri's office issued a statement welcoming the PSP's press release.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Najib Miqati called on the ministers to prepare the required documents to address the MPs during the general parliamentary sessions on April 17-19.
Miqati told the ministers that the parliamentary session would be an opportunity for the cabinet to highlight its achievements as well as its failures.
