Jumblat: Resistance in Lebanon Must Join the Syrian People’s Resistance
Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat saluted on Monday the Syrian people in their ongoing uprising against the ruling regime.
He noted in his weekly editorial in the PSP-affiliated al-Anbaa magazine: “The resistance in Lebanon must join the Syrian people’s resistance against the regime.”
He made his remarks without offering further details.
He continued by praising “the Syrian National Council for successfully asserting itself at the ‘Friends of Syria’ conference and for imposing itself as the inevitable substitute for the ruling regime.”
“If only Russia, which has repeatedly stood by the Arab people, would speed up efforts to get rid of the ruling family in Syria in order to save the Syrian people,” the MP added.
“On the occasion of Land Day, we must remember the struggles of the Palestinian people, who have lived for decades under oppression without surrendering their legitimate national and political rights,” Jumblat stressed.
“The Palestinian people are seeking to bolster their internal unity, which remains as the only way to combat the Israeli occupation that has taken advantage of Palestinian divisions that were long fed by Arab and regional axes that have promoted slogans of defiance to the occupation,” he declared.
“On the occasion of Land Day, we also have to salute the Palestinian refugees, starting with those residing in Lebanon who have long suffered from unjustified Lebanese and chauvinistic discrimination,” noted the Druze chief.
“In Palestine, the Israeli occupation has confiscated land, destroyed homes, and killed the Palestinian people, while in Syria, the regime has confiscated land, destroyed homes, and killed the Syrian people,” stated Jumblat.
