Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat stressed on Saturday that freedom can’t be divisible neither in Palestine nor in Syria.
“Freedom and dignity can’t be divisible, injustice remains wrong,” Jumblat said.
He called on the residents of Jabal al-Sheikh to be aware of the Syrian regime attempts to spread sedition.
“We are in solidarity with Syrian people… And we will provide all the possible aid but they should be aware of the regime’s attempts to spread sedition among them,” the Druze leader stated.
Jumblat refused to comment on Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s speech on Friday, saying that “we don’t have to support the Syrian regime like this… we should disassociate ourselves” from the crisis.
“Freedom can’t be divisible in Daraa, Palestine, and the South,” he noted.
Jumblat said that there is “injustice in Palestine, but the injustice in Syria is horrible.”
Nasrallah said Friday the regime of Syria’s embattled President Bashar Assad will stay in place after the options of military intervention and arming the Syrian opposition have been abandoned.
He called on some parties to “reevaluate” their calculations “given that the general course of things in Syria has become clear.”
