President Michel Suleiman and Speaker Nabih Berri are exerting efforts to make Beirut a permanent base for dialogue among religions and different confessions, al-Liwaa newspaper reported on Tuesday.
The two tackled the measures to be taken concerning the matter during a meeting on Monday at the Baabda Palace.
The daily reported that the situation in the region, especially in neighboring Syria, is causing Berri distress.
The speaker stresses on the importance of dialogue to surpass the repercussions of the current chaos in the region.
The conference aims at bringing together the religious leaders of different sects in Lebanon and the region to stress the importance of dialogue among all religions.
Informed sources told al-Liwaa that the idea was developed; however, it still requires thorough discussions on the details of the conference.
