Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour telephoned on Friday his Syrian counterpart Walid al-Muallem to discuss the developments in Syria, reported the National News Agency.
Mansour said that Muallem had informed him of the “positive conditions that are returning the situation in Syria back to normal.”
The discussions also addressed U.N. and Arab League envoy to Syria Kofi Annan’s visit to Damascus scheduled for Saturday.
“Muallem informed me that Damascus welcome him as a representative to U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon,” said Mansour.
Mansour will travel to Cairo on Friday to join an annual meeting for the Arab League Foreign Ministers on March 10, reported As Safir newspaper.
The meeting will tackle the developments in the Arab world especially in Syria and Palestine.
Lebanon decided to dissociate itself from the turmoil in Syria in order to maintain the stable situation in the country.
The Arab Foreign ministers will also meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to discuss the crisis in Syria.
The talks come amid growing fury in the region at Russia's refusal to condemn its Soviet-era ally after nearly a year of violence that the opposition says has claimed more than 7,600 lives.
Moscow along with Beijing has twice wielded its Security Council veto to block U.N. action on the crisis in Syria, first in October last year and again in February.
