Weapons and explosives have been seized by General Security in the northern city of Tripoli.
“As part of proactive security efforts and under the supervision of the competent judiciary, the General Directorate of General Security executed a series of raids in the city of Tripoli. These operations resulted in the seizure of quantities of explosives ... and detonators used in manufacturing improvised explosive devices (IEDs), alongside large quantities of military weapons, ammunition and grenades,” General Security said in a statement.
It added that the aforementioned arms were seized inside the home of Lebanese national R.S. in the Bab al-Raml area.
MTV meanwhile reported that R.S. is “suspected of links to the Daesh organization.”
Additionally, a drone was seized from the detained Lebanese national A.A. during a raid on his house in the Bab al-Raml area, the General Security statement said, adding that Lebanese national T.H. was also arrested in Bab al-Raml for his ties to the aforementioned detainees.
“The seized items were confiscated and held pursuant to instructions from the competent judicial authorities, while investigations continue under judicial supervision to uncover all circumstances of the case and arrest the remaining accomplices,” General Security said.
“The General Directorate of General Security reaffirms its commitment to continuing proactive operations to maintain citizen security and safety and to safeguard stability,” it added.
