The visit of Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani to Beirut, scheduled for Thursday, comes primarily to support the government of Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, diplomatic sources in Washington told Al-Jadeed television.
"The Qatari Prime Minister is carrying with him a comprehensive plan to address the electricity crisis in Lebanon," Al-Jadeed reported.
“The Qatari Prime Minister will discuss ways to establish economic cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Lebanese government across various fields,” the sources told the TV network.
Saudi Arabia has meanwhile tried to “convince the U.S. administration to adopt a compromise solution regarding the UNIFIL forces” in south Lebanon, the sources added.
“Saudi efforts to reach a solution regarding UNIFIL are taking place in full coordination with the Lebanese state,” the sources revealed.
