Israel says Hezbollah launched drone at its forces overnight
The Israeli army said Sunday that it attacked infrastructure belonging to Hezbollah overnight in response to an explosive-laden drone launched towards its forces in the so-called security zone in south Lebanon.
Noting that the attack caused no injuries, the Israeli army said it responded by launching airstrikes against "Hezbollah targets" in several areas of southern Lebanon..
"Among the targets struck were sites used by Hezbollah ... to launch explosive-laden drones and anti-tank missiles at our forces, as well as other terrorist infrastructure," the Israeli army added.
Vowing that it "will continue to work to remove immediate threats," the Israeli military warned that "any use of force originating from Lebanese territory with the aim of harming citizens of the State of Israel or the IDF (Israeli army) forces will be met with a very strong response."
It added that it "continues to adhere to the agreement between Israel and Lebanon."
Lebanon's National News Agency said the Israeli airstrikes targeted Nabatieh al-Fawqa, Kfartebnit's outskirts, and the town of Maifadoun, where a house was totally destroyed.
Artillery shelling also hit the areas of Dawhat Kfar Rumman, Wadi Zibqin, Mazraat al-Shumariyeh and al-Qusayr. Heavy-caliber machine gun fire meanwhile struck Beit Yahoun, Sirbine and Wadi Zibqin.
