Katz: We won't withdraw from south Lebanon even if US asks
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said Wednesday that "even if there is an American request," Israel "will not withdraw from southern Lebanon."
Katz added that "200,000 residents will not be allowed to return" to southern border areas.
According to the minister, the decision is based on Israel's past experience: "In the past, security zones that included civilian populations became sites of bombings and attacks against our soldiers. We will not allow that to happen again."
Addressing Israel's demolition efforts in southern Lebanon, Katz said: "The infrastructure has been destroyed, the houses are damaged and unsafe. We are not withdrawing."
