Draft new government line-up surfaces
MTV on Tuesday published a draft government line-up containing “some portfolios and names that have been settled until the moment.”
Hezbollah and the Amal Movement will get the finance portfolio for ex-MP Yassine Jaber, health for an AUBMC physician, industry for Salah Osseiran, agriculture for a person from the Hani family and the environment portfolio.
The Progressive Socialist Party will meanwhile get the public works and transport portfolio for Fayez Rasamni while PM-designate Nawaf Salam will name a Sunni figure for the interior portfolio and President Joseph Aoun will name a Maronite for foreign affairs and a Greek Orthodox, likely Brig. Gen. Melhem Haddad, for defense. Aoun and Salam will also name a Maronite for the information portfolio.
“There are negotiations to give the Lebanese Forces the justice and telecommunications portfolios and the deputy PM post, while Free Patriotic Movement chief Jebran Bassil has demanded more than four portfolios, a share bigger than the LF’s,” MTV added.
