Low-flying Israeli military aircraft violently broke the sound barrier over Beirut Tuesday ahead of a speech by Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
The National News Agency said "Israeli warplanes broke the sound barrier... over the capital and in a number of areas."
A security source said the Israeli aircraft were flying "at very low altitude" and AFP journalists reported windows rattling during the loud sonic boom.
"The enemy might break the sound barrier during my speech in order to terrorize the attendees," Nasrallah said. "This indicates that it is now acting in a very childish way," he added in a televised speech commemorating slain Hezbollah commander Fouad Shukur, killed in an Israeli strike on Haret Hreik in Beirut's southern suburbs.
