French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe warned Wednesday that Russia was isolating itself after its veto of a U.N. resolution on Syria and would try to convince his Russian counterpart to change tack.
Juppe said it would take "all my powers of persuasion" when he meets Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Vienna on Thursday.
"I will tell him that Russia is isolating itself within the international community... and it is not a good thing for her to isolate herself to this extent," Juppe said.
France and other Western powers have lambasted China and Russia, an ally of President Bashar Al-Assad's regime, for blocking two U.N. Security Council resolutions condemning a crackdown that began last March.
"The veto means that the massacre continues, with dozens more dead every day," Juppe said.
