Mikati says no Cabinet session in Diman but ministerial meeting
Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati has clarified that no Cabinet session will be held at the summer seat of the Maronite patriarchate in Diman but rather a ministerial meeting.
“To clarify what is being circulated by some media outlets, we stress that there is no call for a Cabinet session in Diman on Tuesday, but rather a meeting to consult over the national issues,” Mikati’s press office said.
“In his statement after his meeting (Wednesday) with His Eminence the Maronite patriarch, Mr. Premier had said: ‘During the talks with His Eminence, there was a suggestion that a meeting for ministers be held in Diman at 11am Tuesday to discuss the risks that are threatening all Lebanese and explore means to confront them and safeguard our society against their perils,” the press office added.
Several media outlets had on Wednesday quoted Mikati as saying that there would be a “Cabinet session” in Diman.
