Bassil Travels to Moscow to Address Presidential Elections, Combating Terrorism

Foreign Minister Jebran Bassil is scheduled to travel to Russia later on Tuesday on an official two-day visit, reported An Nahar daily.

He is set to hold talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on combating terrorism, as well as the resolving presidential deadlock in Lebanon, revealed a diplomatic source to the daily.

Russian deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov is also expected to attend the talks.

Lebanon has been without a president since May 2014 when the term of Michel Suleiman ended without the election of a successor.

Ongoing disputes between the rival March 8 and 14 camps over a compromise candidate have thwarted the polls.
