Diplomatic Promotions Proposal Referred to the Cabinet

The diplomatic promotions proposal was referred to the cabinet waiting to be scheduled on the agenda of the discussions, Central News Agency reported on Saturday.

“The proposal prepared by Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour was referred to the cabinet in order to be discussed,” A diplomatic source told the news agency.

The diplomat said that “reports saying that there are disputes over the issue are merely speculations.”

The source said that the issue will be tackled as a whole package; however, it noted that “the promotions will not be issued at one time.”

“The proposal includes several stages, whereby the cabinet will issue some of the (promotions) while the others will be referred to the civil service board,” the source added.

The diplomat ruled out any dispute concerning the promotion of diplomats from the second degree to the first “since the ministry is in need to fill the vacancies.”

There are around 40 diplomatic positions vacant.
