Killer-Teen Film Honored at London Festival

Harrowing psychological drama "We Need To Talk About Kevin" was on Wednesday named as the best film at the British Film Institute's (BFI) 55th London Film Festival.

The adaptation of Lionel Shriver's disturbing novel of the same name stars British actress Tilda Swinton as the mother of a boy who embarks on a high-school killing spree.

John Madden, chairman of the BFI jury, said: "We were simply bowled over by one film, a sublime, uncompromising tale of the torment that can stand in the place of love.

"'We Need To Talk About Kevin' is made with the kind of singular vision that links great directors across all the traditions of cinema."

Actor Ralph Fiennes and director David Cronenberg were both honored with a BFI Fellowship at the ceremony, which was attended by Star Wars actor Liam Neeson, X-Files star Gillian Anderson and artist Sam Taylor-Wood.
