Report: Nasrallah Says Spies Haven’t Done Major Harm to Resistance

Hizbullah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has reportedly told several party officials that the discovery of spies within the Shiite group’s ranks hasn’t harmed the resistance.

Al-Akhbar daily on Thursday quoted Nasrallah as saying that despite the spying, “no major harm” was done to Hizbullah because of the top secrecy in its operations.

During his meeting with the officials, the Hizbullah chief gave the example of a Hizbullah rocket that hit an Israeli warship off Lebanon during the 2006 summer war.

The Israeli warship, which had been carrying several dozen sailors, was towed to Haifa after suffering heavy damage.

Nasrallah told the officials that only four people knew that the party had such a rocket, al-Akhbar said.

Nasrallah said in June that two Hizbullah members have confessed to working for the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency and a third was under interrogation. He accused Israel of turning to the U.S. spy agency when it failed to infiltrate his party.
