Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun spoke Monday of “some progress” regarding the presidential crisis, without revealing details.
“The presidential vote has crossed some stages and God willing it will continue in this manner,” said Aoun after meeting Speaker Nabih Berri in Ain al-Tineh.
“There is a bit of progress in the presidential issue, regardless of who made it and when,” he added.
Asked about the FPM's ongoing dialogue with the Lebanese Forces, Aoun said: “We won't divulge the details so that we don't ruin it.”
Separately, the FPM leader said he discussed with Berri some parliamentary draft laws and the work of the government.
Lebanon has been without a head of state since May when the term of president Michel Suleiman ended without the election of a successor.
Ongoing disputes between the rival March 8 and 14 camps and electoral rivalry between Aoun and LF leader Samir Geagea have torpedoed the elections.
