Kenyan Police Arrest 10 Suspected Attackers from Somalia

Kenyan police said Wednesday they had arrested 10 suspected attackers, including two female suicide bombers, who had crossed into the country from war-torn Somalia.

"These 10 suspects were involved in recent terror attacks in Nairobi before they fled to Somalia, and now they have sneaked back," police spokeswoman Gatiria Mboroki told reporters.

She did not reveal the nationalities of those arrested or provide any other details.

Kenya has been hit by a string of attacks in recent months blamed on Somalia's Al-Qaida-linked Shebab insurgents.

The Shebab claimed they carried out the September 2013 attack on Nairobi's Westgate mall killing at least 67 people.

The Islamists said the attack was a warning to Kenya to pull its troops out of southern Somalia, where they are fighting the extremists as part of an African Union force.

Ahmed Abdi Godane, the Shebab chief who vowed to bring "rivers of blood" to Kenya, was killed in a U.S. air strike in October.
