Israeli ambassador to Jordan, Danny Navon was returning to Israel on Thursday with his staff, fearing a large demonstration outside the embassy in Amman over the weekend, Israeli public radio reported.
The Jerusalem Post newspaper said that calls for a mass rally had been posted of social networking site Facebook under the banner "No Zionist embassy on Jordanian territory."
The Israeli foreign ministry spokesman could not immediately be reached for comment.
Last weekend, a mob ransacked Israel's mission in Egypt and the ambassador and his staff were evacuated from the country.
Six Israeli security guards were besieged in the embassy building for several hours until they were rescued by Egyptian commandos.
The radio said that Jordanian security forces had put the Amman mission building under heavy guard.
Israeli media said that the Amman embassy staff returns to Israel for the Jewish Sabbath every Friday and Saturday but had closed a day early as a precaution.
