Free Patriotic Movement chief MP Michel Aoun underwent a “small surgery” after fracturing his arm, his press office announced on Sunday.
“He is doing fine,” it said in a terse statement without giving further details.
The statement did not specify how the incident occurred.
MTV said that Aoun was admitted to Serhal hospital that lies near his house in Rabieh after breaking his shoulder.
Aoun is a member of the Hizbullah-led March 8 alliance, which is backing his candidacy for the presidency without making an official announcement.
The lawmaker, who heads the Change and Reform bloc, has on many occasions said that he would only run for the presidency if there was consensus on him.
Baabda Palace was vacated after President Michel Suleiman's six-year term expired in May.
Several blocs, including Aoun's lawmakers, have boycotted parliamentary sessions aimed at electing a head of state, causing lack of quorum.
