Man Wounded in Blast at Ukraine Protest HQ
A man had his hand blown off when a package exploded in a building occupied by Ukrainian protesters in Kiev on Thursday, police said.
"He opened some sort of box, after which the blast happened," police said in a statement.
Police arrived at the site of the explosion, but "activists are not letting the police access the scene of the incident," they said.
The blast occurred on the fifth floor of one of several buildings in central Kiev that has been occupied by anti-Viktor Yanukovych protesters.
The center of Kiev has been sealed off by barricades since the authorities scrapped a key deal with the European Union in favor of closer ties with Russia, sparking mass protests.
Several people have died in the ensuing violence.
