A group of Libyans stoned a border post in southern Tunisia after a row with a Tunisian customs officer Sunday, an interior ministry spokesman said.
"Libyans hurled stones at sentry booths at the customs post following a dispute between a Tunisian customs officer and a Libyan who was returning home," spokesman Mohammed Hichem Meddeb told Agence France Presse.
Tunisian and Libyan troops intervened to restore calm but there were no injuries during the incident which occurred at the Ras Jedir post as large numbers of Libyans trekked back home on the eve of the start of the holy month of Ramadan.
"There is currently a surge of Libyans returning home," according to a U.N. refugees agency official at the border post.
Tens of thousands of Libyans have sought refuge in Tunisia since the start of the popular revolt against Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi last February.
