A source close to President Michel Suleiman has warned from the dangers of the opposition’s rejection to meet at the national dialogue table.
“Those who are rejecting to respond to (Suleiman’s invitation) for dialogue should bear responsibility,” the source told As Safir daily published Wednesday.
“It would be dangerous not to respond (to the invitation) pending the parliamentary elections in 2013 because things can’t wait for long,” the source said.
A middle-ground solution should be found as some politicians say dialogue is useless and others believe that it would solve all problems, he told the daily.
In reference to the March 14 demand to confine the agenda of the national dialogue to Hizbullah’s arms, the source said: “Discussion about new dialogue topics is a choice that could be adopted.”
March 14 leadership sources told As Safir that March 8 has already made its stance. “There is no reason for us to participate in the dialogue.”
The sources said they wouldn’t allow Suleiman and PM Najib Miqati to “waste our time.”
